Laaipang Concept

 

Laaipang Concept under Longleng District.

The Laaipang (Phom tribe dialect) or the traditional youth dormitory was introduced to help the students in studying their lessons. The Laaipang intends to unshackle the children and empower them through a range of activities devising an education, which would be holistic in its essence. They not only learn from books but are trained on life-skills through hands-on orientation on agriculture, horticulture, crafts, gender awareness. Literary Competition conducted at Yongam centre             Study hour Lessons on Villages Settings:  Every Friday identified elderly women/men from the village are invited to the Alijo-Morung to teach the children the history of the village and traditional culinary practices, weaving etc.
Career Guidance and other Life Skills:  Different resource persons are invited to enable students to choose right/proper profession discerning one’s potentials, skills, talents and capacities. Elderly women experienced in tailoring and stitching are invited to the Alijo-Morung to teach girls in the Centre.
Other Programs:  To motivate the children and also to enable the children develop public speaking skill different programs are being organized.
