PM SHRI Schools

A new centrally sponsored scheme- PM SHRI School (PM Schools for Rising India) was approved by the Union cabinet on 7th September 2022.

PM SHRI schools are envisioned to be exemplar schools that meet the demands of the 21st century. These schools will be qualitatively strengthened to showcase the various aspects of the National Education Policy, 2020. and emerge as exemplar schools over a period of time.

Nagaland has 1932 government schools as per UDISE+ 2022-23, of which 9 (nine) Schools 4 (four) elementary, 4 (four) Secondary and 1 (one) Higher Secondary school have been selected as PM SHRI Schools during 2023-24.

Activities conducted during 2023-24

  1. Exposure Trip:

Exposure Trip was organised to provide a platform for students in a dual track approach to make Science, Mathematics and Technology exciting to children and encourage them to have an enduring interest both inside classroom and outside classroom activities.

Around 350 students from the PM SHRI schools participated in the exposure trip to higher educational institution within the State.

 

 

 

 

2. Health Camp:

To promote the health and maintain well-being of students, one day health camp was conducted in the PM SHRI Schools in collaboration with the Community Health Centre (CHC)/Primary Health Centre (PHC).

During the camp, Awareness talks on personal hygiene, dental hygiene, menstrual hygiene, substance abuse, etc. and basic health examination of students such as height, weight, Blood Pressure, general health was conducted.

 

 

 

 

 3. Music:

Music education has been shown to enhance cognitive skills such as memory, attention, and problem-solving. Under Music programme, music classes are conducted and school choirs have been constituted in all the PM SHRI schools.

 International Day of Yoga

The International Day of Yoga (IDY) was observed across the 9 (Nine) PM SHRI Schools in Nagaland on 21st June 2024. The event witnessed the participation of around 1066 students and 59 teachers. The students were made aware on the benefits of Yoga for healthy life. The students were engaged in various yoga practices, including physical postures, breathing exercises and concentration techniques, embodying the spirit of unity and well-being that yoga fosters.
